whats the pakistani dream?

i asked this question to a lot of folks in my network, around 3/4 years back, and i had an idea to write a detailed piece entailing the “pakistani dream”, but most of the answers I got were what I feared.

the pakistani dream is to:

escape pakistan

and that is still true to a lot of extent even today, and truth to be told the folks I asked this question to were not those of a struggling class, I would categorise them under a successful class of pakistani people, still this answer was surprising at that point.

today is 24th of April btw and there’s another buzz around sualeh asif of cursor (anysphere), the pakistani who made it in silicon valley and is now a billionaire, some people are elated by the news, and institutions are now claiming his success- look he graduated from our programme, which is the perfect definition of success has many fathers.

also in this case some folks are like, what did pakistan even give sualeh instead of just an identity or early bringing and why are we owning up to his success and the only reason he was able to get there was because of the US ecosystem.

tbh, I don’t have a huge opinion here. I was just curious about the pakistani dream. hence the brain dump.
